A proper warm-up will help optimize your runs when training for the South Padre Marathon!

The length of your warm-up will depend on the length of your expected run. For example, if you plan for a longer workout, warm up a little longer than for a quick half-hour workout.

All in all, DON’T SKIMP OUT ON YOUR WARM UP.

Why? Warming up your body not only helps prepare for the physical demands of any exercise, but they help improve your muscle dynamics thus assisting in injury prevention.

Here are a few moves to try before your next run:
(Perform for as long as you feel necessary. We suggest at least 30 seconds each)

-High knees
-Skipping
-Forward and backwards arm swings
-Walking lunges
-Side-to-side leg swings
-Butt kicks
-Hop in place
-Toe touches
