Tim Scrivner
Tim began his career in the fitness industry as a personal trainer before becoming the owner/operator/personal trainer/janitor of the Fieldhouse Fitness in 2002. In 2008 his career path would take a turn after he produced a city-wide fitness makeover on the city of DISH, TX, which won the Governor’s Cup as the Fittest City in Texas. It was through this experience that his philosophy on health and physical fitness would be forever changed by Paul Carrozza, who at the time served on both the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and the Governors Fitness Advisory Council. Paul said that they had found most people would not train consistently for their health, however they would train for an event (ie. vacation, marriage, divorce, reunion, 5K, marathon, etc). This conversation served as the inspiration that eventually would become Jailbreak Race Events.

In 2017, Resolve to be Fat, Broke and Happy

Welcome to January, the most American month of the year! Sure, we love July with the hot dogs, beer, music and fireworks. We also love November and the turkey, pecan pie, beer and football. December, you might say is the most American month of all, it has food, beer, fireworks, music, football and maxed out […]

Entering the Chrysalis

“I want to be strong…. I want to be a butterfly but I feel like a caterpillar”. Lauren was telling me her story. She was speaking of her struggles, her frustrations, her hopes and aspirations, yet she voiced the quiet desperation that lives inside each of us. We know there is something more within us, […]

Overcoming Fears

I have a fear, several actually, but one in particular that is always close. It wakes me from my sleep at night, haunting me, taunting me and mocking me. It will sometimes slither into my thoughts during the day, waiting for a moment when I am tired or stressed, when my defenses are down. This […]

An Inspiring Journey

The months of training, planning, sacrifice and blisters have all led to this weekend, marathon weekend in South Padre Island! In time the blisters will heal and the memories of painful early morning training runs will fade, but the memories you make this weekend will last a lifetime. Our marathon journey began in March of […]

A Lonely Lion or Gabby Gazelle

“Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run.” – Bruce Springsteen As I have traveled across the Rio Grande Valley preaching the gospel of running, and more specifically, the opportunity to put your training to use at the upcoming South Padre Marathon, I have frequently heard the same question asked. “Is it better […]

Inspire People to Live a Better Story

Race Director and Running Event Production are not course options at any of the universities I attended, and yes, I attended several. I am frequently asked about how I got started, how did I end up putting on running events across Texas? However, I can’t truly answer the how question without first answering the why […]

Celebrate Your Freedom

July 4th is a day we celebrate our freedom with friends, family and fireworks! It’s also a day you’re apt to hear the phrase “freedom isn’t free”. This phrase is most often used, and rightfully so, in reference to the sacrifices made by so many in defense of our freedom; however, I want to take […]
