What are the dates/times for the South Padre Marathon events?

November 10, 2017- The Expo (4:00-7:00pm)
November 11, 2017- Taquito 10k Beach Run (8:00am)                                                                                                                            November 11, 2017- The Expo (9:00am-3:00pm)
November 12, 2017- Half Marathon & Marathon (6:30am)

What is the time limit for the half marathon and marathon?
The half marathon course will close at 10:30am for a 4 hour time limit. The marathon course will close at 2:00pm for a 7 hour time limit. No race services including medical, aid stations or traffic control are available beyond this time.

The finish line remains open until 2:00pm at which time the course and finish line are officially closed. The finisher shirt and medal will not be awarded after 2:00pm. NO EXCEPTIONS.

What is not allowed on the course?
No. The following are prohibited: pets, baby joggers/strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, and any other non-official wheeled vehicles. Also not allowed: runners going backward and runners not wearing a race number.

Are headphones permitted?
Yes. iPods and other personal music devices are permitted on the course. However, for your safety and the safety of others, please be aware of your surroundings.

Are refunds offered for this event?
No. Entry fees are not refundable for any reason. This policy applies regardless of whether you become injured, have an unexpected emergency, pregnancy, travel issues, etc. There are NO exceptions, all inquiries regarding this policy will be directed back to this page.

Are transfers allowed?
Entry into the South Padre Marathon and Half Marathon is nontransferable. Participants may not give or sell their entry to anyone else.

Is this event timed?
Yes.

Will you have pacers?
Yes. The MarathonPacing.com Pacers will be available for both the full and half marathoners. Here is the lineup.

Are there age group awards?
Yes. Participants will compete in the following male and female age groups: 24 & under, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70 & over.

Age group awards must be claimed by participants within ten days following the event.  Please email info@runspi.com to claim your award.

Will there be Gear Check?
Yes, you will be able to drop your bag at the start line and pick it up at the finish line. Gear check will be accepting bags from 4:30am-5:45am on race morning. All bags must be picked up by 2:30pm.

Is the course out-and-back or point-to-point?
The Taquito 10k Beach Run is an out-and-back course, starting and finishing at Schlitterbahn Beach Resort.

The Marathon/Half Marathon is a point-to-point course. The start line is in Port Isabel (at the intersection of HWY 100 and Manautou Street). The finish line is at Clayton’s Beach Bar on South Padre Island.

How do I get to the Start Line?
All Marathon/Half Marathon participants MUST take the shuttle from the island to the start line. There will be NO parking near the start line in Port Isabel.

Taquito 10k Beach Run participants will park at the start line.

What is the shuttle schedule?
Buses will run from 4:30am-6:00am from the 2 shuttle locations: SPI Convention Center, 7355 Padre Blvd, and Schlitterbahn Waterpark, 33261 State Park Road 100. Please remember that the shuttle buses are a courtesy. As with all public transportation, buses run on a schedule, please do not show up late and expect to be given a ride. Post race shuttles will run from the SPI Convention Center to Schlitterbahn from 10am-3pm.

What do I need for packet pick up?
All participants will pick up their bib at the expo. You will just need your photo ID to pick up your packet.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
There is no race day pick up; therefore, if necessary, you may have someone else pick up your packet. You MUST provide this person with a photocopy of your ID (a picture on a phone will not work).

Is the South Padre Marathon a Boston Qualifier?
Yes, the full marathon course is USATF certified and therefore a Boston qualifier.

Where does my registration fee go?
Your registration fees help to pay for the necessary permits, infrastructure, supplies, bibs, timing, and personnel related to putting on the marathon related events.

Can I switch from the full marathon to the half marathon?
Yes, you can sign into your active.com account and make these changes yourself. You can also defer your entry to 2018. There is a $25 fee to transfer or defer your entry.
